After completing studies of mathematics and computer science at the University of Hannover with some friends, they founded a small software company in Hannover. Looking for an activity to counteract the desk work, he accidentally got introduced to sleddogs. He met Anneliese in 1980 while visiting her kennel together with a friend who had bought some Siberians from her before. At that time he wanted to build a 5-dog-team for recreational mushing with friends. He bought two pups and one adult right then and two more pups the following year. In the winter of `81 he participated in a sled dog camp in the Black Forest, where Anneliese was the instructor. After that they started to drive together to races on a regular base. That was the beginning of a still lasting relationship.

With a background of workmanship he enjoys - besides running the dogs in the snow - designing and building efficient equipment and outfit, starting with lines, sleds, training rigs and not ending with dog trucks.

Together with Anneliese who concentrates more on the medical side, he sets up the diet for the dogs, including a special vitamin-mineral-mix for complete balance.

For newest information on nutritional and veterinary research he is also a member of the ISDVMA, the International Sled Dog Veterinary Medical Association.
